This is to kindly remind you the next leadership talk with Professor Fabio Parasecoli.

The event will be tomorrow, May 20th, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM (CET).

The argument of the speech is "Global Brooklyn: food, business, and design".

Fabio Parasecoli is a Professor of the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, in the Department of Nutrition and Food Studies. He has a Doctorate in Agricultural Sciences (Dr.sc.agr.) from Hohenheim University, Stuttgart (Germany), MA in Political Sciences from the Istituto Universitario Orientale, Naples (Italy).

His speech will talk about what do the fashionable food hot spots of Cape Town, Mumbai, Copenhagen, Rio de Janeiro, and Tel Aviv have in common? Despite all their differences, consumers in each major city are drawn to a similar atmosphere: rough wooden tables in post-industrial interiors lit by edison bulbs. There, they enjoy single-origin coffee, kombucha, and artisanal bread. This is 'Global Brooklyn,' a new transnational aesthetic regime of urban consumption. It may look shabby and improvised, but it is all carefully designed. It may romance the analog but is made to be Instagrammed. It often references the New York borough but is shaped by many networked locations where consumers participate in the global circulation of styles, flavors, practices, and values.What are the business implications of this approach to hospitality? How does it relate to issues of locality, gentrification, and sustainability?
