Dear MBAs,
I am sending this email to respond to the different emails I received about what has happened today regarding the delay of some students that were invited to enter the class at the first available moment (i.e., break).

From what I know, there is no (at the moment) a specific rule regulating the behaviors of students who are late and their admission/no admission to the class. We leave discretion to professors to decide if this situation is disturbing the flow of the course and reacting accordingly.

This was the case with professor Bajo who makes the decision, which I approve, to avoid having continuous interruptions to his lecture due to people arriving late and approaching/adjusting to their seat. I know that, for some of you, this situation was not intended, but I do not think a professor could make the distinction between those who were voluntarily late and those who were not.

Let me also clarify this very clearly: Nobody wanted to punish late students or prevent students from participating in the class.

The only motivation was to ensure a smooth organization of the class and the best pedagogical experience for both students who were present in class on time and the instructor. Teaching with constant interruption is something impossible and affective the overall performance and learning experience.

I do not think we may enter after a show has started at the theatre, and, in my modest opinion, teaching has many things in common with live performing.

As a final thought, I wish all of us to not incur in the risky exercise of connecting all pleasant/unpleasant events to past complains about services or behaviors that created frustration and were not in line with your expectations.

I am confident that, as usual, this incident will contribute to improving the experience of all of us, studying and working very hard to thrive as young professionals
